Average Civilian by Day Superhero by Night | Julia Sa
Average civilian by day, superhero by night. This is the common trope for many characters, such as Spiderman, Superman, Batman, and probably others that don’t end in -man. However, the hero of this particular story is none other than an unassuming blonde 17-year-old girl.
Kallie Warner, stage name Kronk Kallie, is a local high school senior who plays in a punk rock band called The Krunk Fiends.
“It was just a hobby, y’know, me and my friends making music in a garage that couldn’t close all the way,” Warner said. “We’ve been playing for about a year now.”
The Krunk Fiends consist of Kronk Kallie as lead singer and guitarist, Kronk Kory as bassist, Kronk Kurt on tambourine, and Kronk Kelsey on drums.
“We’re not like other bands. We have a tambourine,” Kronk Kurt said.
The Krunk Fiends have gained an astonishing amount of popularity from listeners worldwide, but nowhere else more than in their hometown of San Diego, California.
“We made our big debut about six or seven months ago,” Kronk Kelsey said. “Joined this Battle of the Bands at our local venue. No one expected this little garage band of nobodies to actually win the whole thing.”
The band’s reputation took off like a rocket after that. They started playing at shows in the area and hosting their own concerts for their fans. One of their signature features was that they were entirely anonymous. Not a single soul outside of each other knew their real identities.
“No one needed to know it was us playing,” Kronk Kory said. “We snuck out of the house at night or while our parents were out of town to go and play. They knew we had a band, but they didn’t know just how far it had gone. Sorry, Mom.”
They have amassed quite a fanbase around the globe after they released their debut single, “Krunktastic.” Their anonymity was a topic of heavy debate until they revealed their identities two weeks ago following the release of their newest album, “Stop, Drop, and Get Kronk.”
“Now that we’re graduating high school, we could actually go on to play around the country,” Warner said. “It’s an opportunity I never would’ve thought possible.”
The Krunk Fiends made their hopes a reality by putting themselves out there and showing everyone what they can do. Their story is an inspiration to all the other young people out there with a dream. The world is eagerly waiting to see where this unique band will go, tambourine and all.
