Since the Netflix special was announced, Carpenter has shared her enthusiasm for it with Deadline News.

“I am excited to bring my take to a classic holiday variety show, infusing my love of music and comedy to make something that is uniquely me,” Carpenter said.

In her special, Carpenter will perform songs from her holiday extended play (EP) “fruitcake” along with covers of holiday classics.

“This special will also feature show-stopping music performances, comedic guests, unexpected duets, plus many more surprises and fun cameos,” Netflix said in a Variety News feature.

The special is produced by OBB Pictures and At Last Productions. Sam Wrench, famously known for directing  Taylor Swift’s 2023 “The Eras Tour” concert film, will be the director of “A Nonsense Christmas.” Carpenter herself is also an executive producer for the  special alongside Michael D. Ratner, Scott Ratner, Simone Spira, and Kfir Goldberg for OBB.

“Sabrina’s vision to subvert the classic holiday special has been clear since day one. At OBB, we partner with the world’s most captivating artists to reimagine the expected,” Michael D. Ratner said in an interview with Teen Vogue.

MC freshman Jake Hochberg is a fan of Carpenter and is eager to watch the special.

“I liked ‘fruitcake’ and I have a couple of songs from it on my Christmas playlist so I have high hopes for the special and I plan on watching it on the night that it’s released,” Hochberg said.

Carpenter’s holiday special will premiere on Dec. 6 at 9 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. PT on Netflix.
